Frequently Asked Questions
What is a long shank surgical bur used for?
A long shank surgical bur gives extra reach and visibility. This 22 mm round diamond bur is used for separation (sectioning a tooth or restoration) and for other low-speed procedures in deep or posterior areas.
What are the specifications of this bur?
It is 22 mm long with a thick round diamond head, medium grit and an RA (latch type) shank. Each pack contains 2 burs, made in Israel.
Does it fit a high-speed handpiece?
No. It has an RA shank for slow-speed contra-angle handpieces. For high-speed turbines choose a friction-grip (FG) bur.
Is this the right bur for cutting bone?
This is a medium-grit diamond bur made for separation. For bone cutting many clinicians prefer carbide surgical burs such as Zekrya or Lindemann burs, which you can find in our surgical burs collection.
What if I need an even longer bur?
See the Extra Long Surgical Diamond Burs (28 mm) in the same category.
