What's in the Orthodontic Kit

All burs FG shank, manufactured in Israel. The J316 anterior IPR bur was described in the Journal of Orthodontics (Har-Zion, 2025) as a design that performs anterior IPR effectively and safely.

Debonding Burs for Attachment and Adhesive Removal

Diamond burs cut enamel as readily as composite; that is why they have no place in debonding. The 12-fluted carbide finishing burs in this kit cut resin efficiently but stall on the harder enamel surface, so attachment removal and adhesive clean-up stay on the composite. Five shapes cover flat buccal surfaces, line angles, cervical margins and the interproximal areas where adhesive flash hides.

The two silicone polishers finish the surface after the carbides: they remove the last film of resin and restore the enamel gloss, so the patient leaves without the rough patches that catch the tongue for weeks after debonding.

Orthodontic Burs for Invisalign and Clear Aligner Cases

Aligner treatment ends with attachment removal on every case, and most cases include prescribed IPR along the way. This kit is the aligner clinician's set: IPR burs sized to the 0.3–0.65 mm range ClinCheck prescribes, then carbides and polishers for the attachment removal appointment. Verify each reduction with an IPR gauge.

How to Remove Attachments and Adhesive

1. Carbide first, at reduced speed. A 12-fluted carbide in the high-speed handpiece at low RPM, light pressure, with the composite kept dry so you can see the resin-enamel border.
2. Follow the composite, not the tooth. Keep the bur moving in short strokes across the attachment; when the flute sound changes and the bur skates, you are on enamel - stop.
3. Check dry and under light. Residual adhesive shows as a matte patch on dry enamel. Air-dry and look before you polish.
4. Polish. Silicone polisher with water, light pressure, until the gloss matches the surrounding enamel.
5. For IPR, follow the sequence on the IPR Kit page: wedge, lingual start, parallel to the long axis, measure, polish.

Tips From Clinicians

• Never debond with a diamond. Even a fine diamond scores enamel. Carbide flutes are the only rotary instrument that separates resin from enamel by feel.
• Dry field for debonding, wet field for polishing. Water hides the composite margin; polishing without water overheats the tooth.
• Take photos before attachment removal. They tell you exactly where each attachment sat, which is where adhesive remnants hide.
• Replace carbides before they squeal. A dull 12-fluted bur starts to grab composite and chatter on enamel - that is when the scratches happen.
• Polish in two grits if you have them. Coarse polisher for the bulk, fine for the gloss. The two polishers in this kit are that pair.
• Explorer and floss check after every tooth. Adhesive flash at the gingival margin is what patients feel a week later.
