Zekrya Bur Specifications
| Catalogue no. | Head size | Head length | Total length | Shank | Flutes | Pack |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zekrya23 | 016 | 11 mm | 23 mm | FG | 6 helical | 5 burs |
| Zekrya28 | 016 | 11 mm | 28 mm | FG | 6 helical | 5 burs |
What Is the Zekrya Bur Used For?
- Sectioning impacted wisdom teeth and molars before extraction
- Root separation - dividing multi-rooted teeth at the furcation
- Removing a broken root stump
- Cutting teeth at root level during extraction
- Bone removal around the tooth to make extraction easier
Zekrya23 or Zekrya28: Which Length?
Both burs have the same 016 head and 11 mm head length, so the cutting head is identical. The difference is the shank. Choose Zekrya28 for extra reach in posterior or deep sites. Choose Zekrya23 when the shorter bur gives you better control and clearance. Many surgeons keep both on the tray.
How to Use the Zekrya Bur for Tooth Sectioning
- Plan the section line from the radiograph: crown, furcation and root positions.
- Use a high-speed FG handpiece with plenty of water to keep the cut cool.
- Section the crown with controlled passes, working at the cervical level for an impacted tooth.
- Separate the roots at the furcation, then remove each section on its own.
- Do not cut deeper than needed near adjacent teeth, the lingual plate or the nerve.
- Replace the bur when it stops cutting cleanly.
Zekrya vs Lindemann Burs
| Zekrya | Lindemann | |
|---|---|---|
| Main use | Tooth and root sectioning | Bone cutting and osteotomy |
| Typical procedures | Impacted wisdom teeth, root separation, broken root stumps | Apicoectomy, cystectomy, bone contouring, bone grafting |
| Design | Cutting tip, 6 helical flutes | Straight or cross-cut |
| Shank | FG | FG, RA and HP options |
Many surgical cases use both: Zekrya to section the tooth, Lindemann burs to work the bone. See all dental surgical burs.
