What a Round Carbide Bur Is Used For
A round carbide bur removes caries, opens cavities and refines the outline of a preparation. With 12 blades it cuts with more control and leaves a smoother surface than a standard round carbide bur, which makes it a good choice when you finish composite.
12-Blade vs Standard Round Carbide Bur
Standard operative round burs have fewer, larger blades. They cut faster, but leave a rougher surface. The 12-blade bur removes less per revolution and finishes better. For fast caries removal, see the standard round carbide burs FG, RA and RAOS.
Round Carbide Bur vs Round Diamond Bur
Carbide cuts dentin, amalgam and composite and leaves a smooth surface. A diamond round bur grinds enamel and ceramic and leaves a rougher surface. Choose by the material you need to cut.
