Long Neck Round Bur vs Short Neck Round Bur
A standard round bur has a short neck, so the shank sits close to the tooth. A long neck round bur reaches deeper into a cavity and gives a clearer view of the preparation, which helps in posterior teeth and deep access cavities. For shallow preparations a standard round diamond bur is enough.
